For your $5 you're essentially getting a new army for co-op, complete with new unit s, game mechanics, and voice-overs. I don't know, I feel like we never really saw post-release extended content like this previously. I actually ripped on the story of HotS for a long time, but after that final mission, I went back and played it again, and it felt a lot better. As soon as that final mission plays out, everything makes sense. Up to that point, it felt really weirdly forced. after I finished the epilogue missions of LotV.

The expansion of the universe and the lore gets insane as the games go along, which did feel a bit odd, but again, ended up working for me. His character and motivations are completely different, but in a way that ends up working, just not in a way that it worked before.
